Very Happy Halo everyone, this is Joan. I registered just right now. I am very glad to be a part of this organization.

I am a nursing student in Community College of Denver. We are required to present one culture and discuss it to students for our cultural project. I suggested the Vietnamese culture because it is very interesting. My classmate and I interviewed John Luong and recorded it and show it to my class. I will also make an introduction of VPN and its goal.

What's the point of this message?

My main point is, not so many Americans know about Vietnam, people from Vietnam, and the culture. If I ask them, they only know about Vietnam War. Many don't even know where the Vietnam is located. As nursing students, we HAVE to know and be sensitive taking care of Vietnamese in health care facilities since Vietnamese are growing in population here in Colorado.

Maybe VPN can show and present the Vietnamese culture in nursing schools. Just a thought.

Hey there Joan,

It's nice to see you take interest in the VN culture. It would have been great if you attended our Communication Workshops last month. We discussed a lot about various aspects of VN culture in contrast to the western culture. For example, one thing that is really great about VN-Americans is that we are very committed to education. We also noted the downside of us being too polite and non-assertive sometimes. Anyway, great to hear from you. Presenting VN culture to your nursing school is a neat idea. Let me know if you get more serious about it.

p.s. check out the VPN website www.vietpronet.org. There are a lot of updates. Tennis clinic pics and editorial to be posted soon.

Razz Yes I will. Sorry I couldn't come that day but I will definitely come next time. I really love joining this group because professionals and students are working together and people are very humble and nice! I've been here in U.S. for four years and this is the only time I have met people so productive and nice like Vietnamese.
